It’s almost that time again! Back to School Night is Monday, August 12th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at St. Matthew. It is important for a member from each family to attend. Entrance to Back to School Night will be limited to the main entrance to the school.
We will be having a new families dinner on Sunday August 11th after the 5:15 Mass in Feeney Hall. Children are welcome and we will have childcare available after we eat dinner so we can present some information and we can answer any questions. We will also have computers available to help walk you through the forms if you have any questions. Please RSVP to Kim Landry at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Meet the Teachers
All students will have the opportunity to meet their teacher and drop off their school supplies. This will give the teachers the opportunity to meet the students and their families. Please bring your student(s) to Back to School night with all their supplied labeled (Pre-K and Kindergarten do not label supplies). We will have a table set up to label supplies. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 4-6pm.
Back to school night stops
Stop #1 Check-in Table (Mandatory) - Please stop at the check-in tables located at the gym entrance. Please confirm your total fees owed and pay at this time. If you did not fill out online forms, please proceed to the computer lab to complete.
Stop #2 Visit Child’s Classroom - Please visit your child’s classroom, meet the teacher and drop off supplies. (If you ordered an EduKit, they will be available for pickup in the gym.) There will be a table set up with labeling supplies. Teachers will be in their classroom from 4-6pm.
Stop #3 Gym - Stop in the gym to find out the many opportunities available at St. Matthew School and Parish. St. Matthew is a wonderful community with many opportunities to get involved and give of your time, talent and treasure.
Mandatory Stop: All families should stop at the St. Matthew Priests table in the middle of the gym. Be sure to pick up your family's envelope!
Stop #4 Used Uniform - Used uniforms will be for sale in the hallway. Stop by to pick up some gentle used uniforms for $1! A separate check or cash will be needed.
Stop #5 Kona Ice- Cool off with a yummy treat from Kona Ice available in front of school. Kona Ice will donate 25% of the sales back to the St. Matthew Parent Club.
Tuition Payment: You should have already signed up for your tuition payments via Smart Tuition. For questions regarding Smart Tuition please contact Peg Little in the parish office 217.359.4224 or at email@example.com.
EduKit School Supplies Kits: For those families that pre-ordered kits, edukits will be available to be picked up and dropped off in the classroom. If you would like to pick up your Edukit before Back to School Night, they will be available to be picked up during office hours on Friday August 9th and Monday August 12th.
All forms will be online this year. We are excited about making it easier and more efficient. To access the Parent Club Registration Forms please click here. Every family is required to fill out the online form. You will not need to print off completed forms and bring them to Back to School Night. If you do not have access to the forms, you will be able to complete the forms in the computer lab on Back to School Night. There will be people available to help you complete the forms.
PE Uniforms are required for 6-8th grade students. If you need to purchase a PE Uniform for the school year, Mr. Jahnke will have forms at Back to School Night.
Volunteers are one of the things that make St. Matthew such a great school environment. Volunteering is a great way to feel connected with what is going on at the school and to meet other school families. Volunteer sign ups for Classroom Volunteers, Class Parties, Monthly Teacher Luncheons, and more will be available on signupgenius.com. A separate email will be sent after Classroom Lists go out with the links to signup for these events! Various Fees Explained
Dues: Dues help support the operating expenses of Parents’ Club. One of the many things Parents’ Club provides is $375 to each teacher to help them supply their classroom.
Gifts: With the money collected, classroom ambassadors purchase gifts for special occasions throughout the school year for teachers and teacher aides on behalf of the entire class. Likewise, gifts are purchased for Faculty and Staff throughout the year on behalf of all school families.
Teacher’s Luncheon: Each month, a grade organizes and serves lunch to all faculty and staff. The money collected for luncheons offset the cost of food and drinks. The luncheons are a wonderful way for the parents to show the teachers and staff how much we appreciate all they do for St. Matthew.
Fundraiser: Dues support less than half of the Parents’ Club operating budget, excluding special purchases for the school. It is with our Fundraisers that Parents’ Club is able to support and provide enhancements to the school. The money collected pays for the small classroom-sponsored raffle baskets.

The Hospitality Committee would like to extend an invitation to all parents to a Welcome Coffee the first day of school, Thursday, August 15th. Please stop by Feeney Hall from 8:00-9:30 a.m. to meet new parents and say hello to old friends. The first day of school is the Feast of the Assumption, a holy day of obligation. Mass will be said at 10:15 for our students, you are welcome to join, please sit in the back pews.
PARENT CLUB MEETINGS
Parents’ Club meetings for the upcoming year are on Tuesdays (September 10, October 8, November 12, December 10,
January 14, February 11, March 10, April 14, May 12,). The meetings will be in the St. Mark Room of the Parish Center at 6:00 pm. We will be offering childcare in the church nursery. Join us to learn about upcoming events and find out how you can get involved.
Safe Environment and Safe Driving Training:
All volunteers are required to complete the Safe Environment Training including background check paperwork prior to volunteering anywhere in the school. Safe Environment Training is offered online at CMGconnect.org
Anyone who volunteers to drive for a school event, field trip or athletic event must have completed this training prior to driving. See info below on how to complete the training on your own. St. Matthew Apparel:
Remember to stop by the St. Matthew apparel booth to view samples of our school apparel and other spirit items. Apparel sales will be online again this year. There will be other order and sale times throughout the year. There will be occasional opportunities during the school year for students to wear their St. Matthew apparel to school instead of their uniform.
