Time – “Master to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life” – Jn 6:68
It is when we spend time with God in prayer that we are nourished, prepared, and inspired to give of ourselves to others, responding to His invitation to His hands and feet.
Prayer is the beginning of stewardship
In addition to attending Mass each Sunday and on holy days, here are gifts we can consider:
- Spend time with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament in our parish’s Perpetual Adoration Chapel
- Attend daily Mass once a week
- Pray together with our family
- Read the Bible and spiritual books
- Pray the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, or Liturgy of the Hours
- Take the family to Confession every couple of months
- Participate in faith formation events
In our chaotic world and a culture of “doing”, time can sometimes be the most sacrificial – simply “being”.
Talent – “Father, they are your gift to me” – Jn 17:24
God has given us various talents unique to each of us. Sometimes we have recognized and used these talents all our lives and sometimes we are scared to or may even doubt we have any to offer. The truth is that we each have gifts.
What do you do well?
What brings you joy?
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the ways you are being called to serve.
The best way we can thank God for our gifts is to use them for His glory and share them with others. There are various ministries, apostolates, and opportunities to use your gifts to serve our parish family through ongoing commitments or one time events.
Treasure – Let us give our first fruits to the Lord – cf. Neh 10:36
Our parish relies on the generosity of your financial support to maintain everyday costs, assist parishioners, and plan for the future.
We can see the origins of tithing in Scripture and traditionally people have tithed 10% of their income; however, this is different for each family – some can give more and others less.
When reflecting and praying about your commitment of treasure, consider the following:
- Is this gift sacrificial as I offer it in thanksgiving to God?
- Has my gift been figured into the family budget?
Parishioners may put their envelopes in the collection at Mass or they may choose to contribute electronically (click here for more information) through our secure online giving platform.
Imagine what we can accomplish when we bring our treasures together.
